Terms of Use
We build free tools to help nonprofits. Don't abuse them, don't try to hack us, and don't take our open research and try to sell it.
If you want the full legal breakdown, keep reading.
1. Our Services Are Free
TSNI platforms (including TSNI Nonprofit Web Intelligence and the TSNI Nonprofit Web Index) are provided entirely free of charge to 501(c)(3) organizations and the general public. We will never ask you for a credit card to access our core platforms, and there are no hidden paywalls.
2. The TSNI Scanner
We run automated pipelines to index the nonprofit web.
- If you don’t want us to scan your site, update your
robots.txtto block our user agent, or email us. We respect boundaries. - The Golden Rule: You may not use our public digital health data to identify vulnerabilities in nonprofit websites for malicious purposes, or to aggressively sell them unsolicited IT services.
3. Volunteer Contributions
If you contribute data or code through our Pitch In program, you agree that your contributions become part of TSNI’s open data ecosystem. You are volunteering your time; you are not an employee, and you will not be compensated financially. You do, however, get our eternal gratitude and a permanent spot on our team roster.
4. No Warranties (The Lawyer Part)
We are a small team doing our best. We provide these tools “as is” and “as available.” If our scanner gives you a false positive, or if our platform goes offline for an hour during maintenance, we aren’t legally liable for any damages that causes your organization.
5. Play Nice
We reserve the right to ban anyone from our platforms, revoke access, or block IP addresses for any reason. We will absolutely do this if you are being abusive to our volunteer team, trying to break our infrastructure, or exploiting the nonprofits we serve.
